Medical Applications
Biological molecules show vibrational resonance modes within the TeraHertz spectrum. Within this segment, the Company will initially apply its non-invasive and non-contact (label-free) TeraHertz spectroscopy and sensing method to medical diagnostic applications, such as: early diagnosis of diseases; gene therapy; and analysis of DNA, RNA, cells, and proteins for the investigation of the metabolic process.
The Company’s initial product offering for this area will look at identifying biomarkers that have been identified in association with cervical and ovarian cancers. This important application in the area of gynecological oncology will be another ideal product launch for T-Ray Science. The Company has recruited world-renowned specialists in the areas of gynecological oncology and Cancer imaging. The Company will be advised by the founder of the B.C. Cancer Agency’s Imaging department and expects to work closely with the B.C. Cancer Agency, as well as several other provincial agencies, in the area of sample preparation. In addition, the senior engineer has been appointed International Women’s Health Coordinator of the Chinese Society of Gynecological Oncology, Chinese Medical Association. This appointment allows the Company to access key executives within the Chinese Medical Association to allow protocol preparation and clinical trials of the technology in China. The advantage of access to large populations of customers through the clinical association is of enormous benefit to product realization over the next two years. To date, there is no reliable ovarian cancer diagnostic tool, and T-Ray Science anticipates providing this valuable medical application to women.
