Medical Imaging
Unlike X-rays, TeraHertz radiation is non-ionizing, and can be safely used for Medical Imaging, and eventually TeraHertz therapy applications. The company will apply T-Ray Imaging to disease diagnostics and cancer detection applications, such as detecting skin and breast cancer; identifying dental caries; assessing the magnitude and depth of skin burns; and determining tissue hydration levels. A key competitive advantage for the Company will be the conversion of large encumbered diagnostic and imaging devices into hand held units. Given the increasing trend towards moving patient care out of large hospital settings, the Company has identified a clear market opportunity for companies that can provide low cost, portable medical imaging devices. Specifically, T-Ray Science intends to develop a line of T-Ray onSkin™ scanners, which will be a line of portable skin cancer detection devices. These scanners will utilize dual mode Pulsed and Continuous Wave TeraHertz Sources and Detectors technology that will harness TeraHertz radiation for oncological imaging applications.
T-Ray Science’s onSkin™ scanner will be portable, mobile, compact and designed to be used in a hand-held manner in different types of operating environments. It will be based on proprietary specifications, enabling it to provide spectroscopic information on targeted tissue at a level of detail that is currently not available from competing technologies.
